at Independence Village of Carmel

For over 40 years, our communities have been considered the best in senior living by residents, families, and community members alike.

Had a wonderful tour with Meghan on Saturday. She was able to work us in at the last minute and we were very impressed with the people and facility!

The staff is very caring and loving. They get my Dad involved in activities. My Dad no longer eats meals by himself out of a styrofoam container. He goes to a dining room with everyone else. He is Catholic and every Thursday he receives communion and says the rosary with other Catholic residents. He finally is being helped getting bathed 3 times a week. At the last place my dad was at, they were supposed to help him bath and never did. My dad didn't have a shower for months. The facility is secure, which was a must for my dad since he has dementia. You cannot get in or out of the wing he is in without an employee letting you in.They celebrate every holiday where the dementia residents get to get out of the wing they are in and it is actually fun! Every Friday they have happy hour which is another fun activity. They play bingo, which my Dad loves!I would highly recommend Independence Village of Carmel to everyone. It's like one big family with the staff and residents. The residents even care about each other, which touches my heart. Dementia is hard and seeing how the staff gets everyone involved in activities is pretty amazing.

I have toured Independence Village three times (twice by myself and once with my mom). The staff was always helpful, friendly and very accommodating during all visits. They even arranged for my mom to have lunch there with two of the residents. Not only did she really enjoy that, but it made her feel extra "at home" having made some acquaintances right from the start. This community has a lot to offer and is in mom's "Top Two" communities where she wants to live. It just depends upon what's available when the time comes for her move.

[Name Removed] is such a gem. She setup a wonderful lunch with residents that my father could talk to. We were able to see all of the amenities while we were onsite as well as a few rooms. She is an excellent communicator.

I am fairly new, one month to be exact. The people who live here are very friendly, as well as the staff! My main reason for coming here was that I was in need of extra help and I did not want to go to assisted-living. They have a program called CorsoCare that has been a great benefit to me. They also have a great therapy department and Doctor on premises. This will be my forever home. I must not forget to say that we have three nice meals a day and no dirty dishes to do!

Independence Village is a very friendly and clean place to reside. The food in the dining room is always good. There are many activities to join in. Bus trips for shopping also!!!! Centrally located for easy access. More staff is needed in the dining room.

Really took the time to understand [name removed]needs and his personal limitations. To suggest a enhanced level of care is right on the what he needed between independent and assisted living.

My advice to other families, no matter where they are going, is to always remember that they are advocates for their loved ones. It is important to establish clear communication early and often in the beginning to make sure your loved one is comfortable, and to make sure the facility knows your loved one and understands their needs.

The staff is all really helpful and nice but they seem extremely short staffed currently. We have especially noticed an extreme decline in housekeeping and much lower communication with the staff. They rarely return calls or respond to voicemails so I have to go over and interrupt to get answers to questions. They do have a new chef who seems very good.

This staff is led with very high standards. The leaders will step in and do whatever it takes to solve problems. It may not always be pretty, but they are 1000% dedicated to creating the best experience possible

All 5s, it has been a great experience so far. The staff are all very friendly. My dad tells us "this is a good place and I'm happy here. That of course is so important to us. The food is usually very good and the people working there are good at making sure that he has everything he needs. They know what he can and can't have. As far as cleaning of the apartment for the resident. I should have only given a 4. They definitely could do a better job and not so much turnover.
