Why Residents And Their Families Love Danbury Mount Vernon

I am very pleased with the care and support that my grandmother receives at this facility from the staff and nursing team. My grandmother is 97 years old and is very active and involved in the community and the activities that are provided. She loves having lunch with her friends and enjoys dining in the restaurant area. She loves the chef and talks to me about her whenever I see her. Overall, prayers were answered when a space became available for my grandmother. Could not be happier.

My parents were in there and were treated with the utmost care the place was clean as wissle the nurses and support staff top notch the food was always good if not great better then the former nurse ing home they were in

Mom has been living at Danbury Mount Vernon Memory Care for almost 2 years now. She has been very happy living here. She has made lots of new friends and enjoys the daily activities throughout the day. The Nurses are excellent. They are skilled, compassionate and caring. We are a team when making medical decisions for Mom. I trust and value their input greatly. The Aides/Companions work the hardest to care for your family members at Danbury. We are fortunate to have the best young people in the Mount Vernon area caring for our family members every need. Activities are coordinated throughout the day- everyday. Exercise classes or beach ball volleyball, card games, sing alongs, bingo, live entertainment, scenic drives, trips to local restaurants, special themed festivals and even an occasional food truck. Food is very good (Mom has gained weight) with a nice varied menu throughout the week with alternate options always available if you don’t like a meal. Best in MT Vernon!

There is a gym and Physical Therapy on site. They lead exercise classes several times a week in addition to activities exercises and can handle any other therapy needs. They are fantastic and the director will check in with you to see how your loved one is doing to help maintain their physical abilities. Lastly is administration, they have worked with me every step of the way the last 2 years. Heidi and Sarah have been involved in care planning and fine tuning that care specifically to Mom’s needs and abilities. Memory care is expensive and they have done everything they can to help me plan for and adapt to changes in costs. In my opinion, there is no better choice in the Mount Vernon area than Danbury.

My mom is a resident, and her journey began with a couple of months in assisted living before transitioning to memory care, where she has now been for the past few months. The beginning was not easy—there were big adjustments and plenty of bumps in the road, both for her and for us. The staff truly had their hands full at first, but they were consistently kind, patient, and incredibly helpful as they worked to help her settle in and adjust.Since moving into memory care, she seems to be doing better and is much more stable with the support of medications and individualized care. This stage of life is an incredibly difficult one when it comes to a parent or loved one, but it helps immensely to know that she is being well cared for and looked after.

- Florence Schermer
I knit with a group of residents weekly, and I am impressed with the roster of activities available to the residents. The staff are cheerful and efficient, and the facility is clean and inviting.
- Alice Straus
Danbury allows us to use their room for a Stitchcraft group. They are always friendly and accommodating and they even catered a holiday lunch for us.
- Greta Cornell
After two years of intense medical care for my husband, I had first hand experience of numerous rehab/nursing care facilities from bad to quite good, but I had no idea the independent environment that was available which I found at Danbury in Mt Vernon. I did not feel like I was in "an old folks home" with people living out last days, but lovely apartment dwellings of varying sizes that were as warm and personal as the homes they came from. Some were even equipped with complete kitchens including full size stove, refrigerator and dishwasher as well as space for a washer and dryer, if it fit your budget. Residents were all active and cheerful coming and going in the halls, free to maintain their own schedule for activities and dining times. Yet medical care is always available when needed. All the staff were friendly and caring. Even the the restricted memory unit had the same atmosphere.

Danbury is an outstanding facility for Mom. It is extremely clean, with a friendly and helpful staff. Love all the activities they do for the residents to keep them engaged in life.
- Jody Cameron
The residents love all the different activities they provide. The staff really cares about their residents and vise versa! The facility has always been clean when I was there.
- Sherrie Twining
Absolutely beautiful community with a great staff.
- Molly Bates
Not only did activities include social dancing, the staff cooked wonderful food and choices were permitted for residents preference. The facility was always clean. (It is a new and it sparkles. )The staff is good natured and welcoming. When there is a medical concern the family is notified. My uncle had a private room which he furnished some of his own belongings. We visited and always had fun. I suggest you consider the Danbury for your relative.
