    At Munger Grant Awards

What is the "Munger Grant Awards"
The Charles T. Munger Fellowship Grant is a special program designed to recognize and reward teams working in Welltower’s top-performing communities.
    • This grant reflects the belief that exceptional results are driven by exceptional people. Eligible communities can earn a bonus ranging from $100,000 to $1.5 million, which is then shared directly among site-level team members
    • At its core, this program is Welltower’s way of saying thank you—for strong teamwork, disciplined execution, and the daily commitment to providing outstanding care and experiences for residents and their families
    • The Charles T. Munger Fellowship Grant is an annual, recurring program, with the inaugural year launching in 2026
    Who is Welltower?
Welltower is StoryPoint Group’s financial partner and the owner (or co-owner) on a certain number of SPG’s communities.
    Who is Charlie Munger?
Charlie Munger (1924-2023) was an American investor, businessman, and philanthropist, best known as Warren Buffett's long-time business partner and the Vice Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, famed for his sharp wit, multidisciplinary approach, and wisdom that guided the growth of one of the world's most successful conglomerates, emphasizing long-term value, ethics, and continuous learning. Charlie had great influence on the Welltower leadership team and taught them to deserve a great partner is by being one. He inspired Welltower to create a partnership that rewards everyone involved in spectacular performance.
    How are communities selected?
Each year, 31 Welltower communities are selected as winners within three categories: Diamond, Platinum and Gold. It’s important to note that communities are not only evaluated against their sister StoryPoint Group communities, but against all eligible Welltower-operated communities across the United States. Being named part of the winning SPG group is highly competitive—think of it as earning a “golden ticket” to the Olympics.
    • Diamond Awards: 6 communities may receive Welltower stock awards ranging from $500,000 to $1,500,000
    • Platinum Awards: 10 communities may receive Welltower stock awards of $250,000 (and employees may elect cash)
    • Gold Awards:15 communities may receive Welltower stock awards of $100,000 (and employees may elect cash)
    • Communities compete with like sized communities in groups (or “classes” as Welltower refers to them) based on size, product offering, and occupancy — not against the entire portfolio. Each class has one top-performing community across all Welltower-operated communities in the U.S
What are the groups or “classes”?
    • Class 1: Smaller communities with higher occupancy (above 85%) —$500,000 award
    • Class 2: Smaller communities still building occupancy (85% or below) —$500,000 award
    • Class 3: Medium-sized communities with higher occupancy (above 85%) —$1,000,000 award
    • Class 4: Medium-sized communities still building occupancy (85% or below )––$1,000,000 award
    • Class 5: Larger communities with higher occupancy (above 85%) —$1,500,000 award
    • Class 6: Larger communities still building occupancy (85% or below) —$1,500,000 award
    • Beyond the six class winners, Welltower will also recognize strong performance across the broader portfolio: 10 communities will receive $250,000 awards and 15 communities will receive $100,000 awards
What ways can my community earn an award?
There are two ways your community can earn an award:
    • The first way your community can win an award is the $500,000–$1.5 million Stock Bonus
      • 6 communities (Diamond) will be selected
      • Communities win by achieving the highest EBITDAR above budget compared to similar Welltower-owned communities, while continuing to deliver quality care
    • The second way your community can win an award is $100,000–$250,000 Cash or Stock Bonus (employees may choose)
      • 25 communities will be selected
      • To be eligible for this a community must:
        • Exceed its EBITDAR budget in 2026
        • Be nominated by SPG officials
        • Be selected by Welltower based on overall performance and quality outcomes
What is the award timeline i.e. when does payout happen?
Your community is competing against other Welltower owned communities to earn this award is based on community performance during 2026 (from January 1 – December 31, 2026).
    • The performance year is for: 2026, when all Welltower communities compete
    • In January 2027, winning communities are announced––they must maintain EBITDAR of 2026 throughout 2027
    • By March 2028, if all criteria are met, your award is paid out
How do I (community employee) qualify for my share of the award?
If your community is selected as a winner, you are eligible to receive an award ‘golden ticket’ if you meet the following requirement:
    • You are employed at the community for at least six (6) months through December 31, 2026, and remain employed for the full year of 2027
When does my bonus get vested (vested simply means earned and secured, as long as certain conditions are met)?
Once an award is granted, it becomes vested if all the following conditions are met:
    • You remain employed by your current StoryPoint Group community through the end of 2027
      • If you are promoted to a regional or higher role, or transfer to a sister community or another Welltower-operated community, you are still eligible for your award bonus
    • The community’s 2027 EBITDAR does not decline compared to 2026
    • The community continues to deliver quality care
How much will my award ‘bonus’ be?
If your community wins, the total bonus awarded to the community will range from $100,000 to $1,500,000.
Your individual bonus amount is based on:
    • How long you were employed during 2026, and
    • The number of hours worked and total wages earned, ensuring each person receives a fair, proportional share
