Across our StoryPoint Group communities, Chef Kevin helped define the culinary standards and practices of our organization.
Chef Kevin Penn began his culinary career in his hometown of Plymouth, Michigan, at the age of 14. He was a stock boy, dishwasher, deli helper at the Penniman Deli, and later a pantry cook at Meadowbrook Country Club.
It wasn’t until his time at Meadowbrook, under the mentorship of Chef Steve Schopen and Executive Sous Chef Paul Sulek, that Chef Kevin was first exposed to fine dining and decided to attend culinary school at Schoolcraft college. After school, he worked through the ranks at several high-end Detroit area
country clubs before making the jump to senior living at Independence Village of Brighton Valley.
Across our StoryPoint Group communities, Chef Kevin helped define the culinary standards and practices of our organization. He earned the distinction of Certified Executive Chef and Certified Culinary Administrator from the American Culinary Federation. Chef Kevin was soon promoted to Regional Chef and then later Corporate Executive Chef. Currently, Kevin leads a team of five regional and six district executive chefs that are collectively accountable for the dining experience of over 7,000 residents and the culinary vision of more than 70 properties in eight states.
