Keep reading to learn more about our community and the surrounding community of Millersburg.

Millersburg, Ohio

Millersburg was named after Charles Miller, who established the village in 1815 by laying out lots that would later become the county seat. The first building in Millersburg was a tavern built in 1819, followed by a log cabin schoolhouse in 1820 and a typical frontier store in 1821. By 1833, the town had developed significantly, with ten stores, four taverns, four physicians, three attorneys, a printing office, a meeting house, an apothecary’s shop and 73 dwelling houses.

Nowadays, local events and community efforts often celebrate Millersburg’s rich history, ensuring that both residents and visitors can appreciate the town’s heritage. This dedication to preserving its past allows Millersburg to offer a unique blend of historical charm and modern living, keeping the spirit of its founding era alive in present-day Ohio. Millersburg is often called Amish country because of the large population of Amish in the area. Here, their traditions and values are honored.

Life With Us

What does life with Danbury Millersburg really look like? Here are a few of the events, excursions and activities that we’ve enjoyed at our community and exploring the surrounding historic downtown Millersburg.

A Baby Shower Thrown By Us

Our Danbury Millersburg ladies (and one gentleman!) threw one of our very own a surprise baby shower! Natalie is our Life Enrichment Assistant, and many of these ladies have known her for many years, watching each new step of her life. Getting to celebrate someone who celebrates others daily was very special. It was so much fun talking about how times have changed!

Walnut Creek Flea Market

Out and about in Amish Country! One of our favorite places to explore is the Walnut Creek Flea Market. The Walnut Creek Flea Market features 60 vendors showcasing a diverse and ever-changing array of unique goods and services. You can find everything from handcrafted Amish furniture and quilts to refurbished antique drill bits, gas cans, clothing and jewelry.

The market also offers a variety of food items, including jerky, German-roasted nuts and kettle-roasted potato chips. An Amish couple prepares breakfast and lunch in the cafeteria, while another Amish cook handles the baking. Additionally, the market’s licensed reflexologist and massage therapist provide soothing services.

The Richardson’s Greenhouse

We got a good dose of springtime flowers and vitamin D at the Richardson’s Greenhouse. While we were there, we all chatted, making plans and sharing dreams for our courtyards and front porches. A few months later, we planted flowers, vegetables and herbs to make those green-thumb ambitions a reality!

Outdoor Concert And Community Block Party

One of the best parts of the summer months is spending time outside and enjoying the beautiful weather. At our Community Block party, we did just that while eating delicious food, playing games, and listening to gospel, country and bluegrass music with one of our favorite local performance groups. It was a great time for all who attended!

Millersburg Glass and Collectibles

We explored Millersburg Glass and Collectibles in historic downtown Millersburg. We received a history lesson and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon. Turns out, these works of art were only produced from 1909-1912 because the company was only in business for 34 months — making the glass pieces very rare and valuable.

Hershberger’s Farm and Bakery

We live in such a great and beautiful area! On this cool day, we visited the local Hershberger’s Farm and Bakery just outside of Millersburg. We had a great time seeing all the animals and enjoying each other’s company.

Don’t Just Take Our Word For It!

We understand that the search for senior living can be a difficult one. That’s why the team at Danbury Millersburg is here to support you and your loved ones in every way that we can. We think our community is pretty great, but don’t just take our word for it!

Here’s a message from one of our residents about their experience in our community.

“I have lived in one of the condos of Danbury Millersburg independent living for almost two years and have never regretted the move. I am very happy here! At 90 years old, I knew it was time to downsize, and when I saw that Danbury was coming to our community, it seemed like the right move to make. We are like one big family here who care for each other. The staff have been great. I can join in with the activities at the larger assisted living building if I choose. I have 24-hour nursing assistance if I need it. If my health fails and I need more care, I can move to assisted living. So glad I made the move! Thanks, Danbury!”
