Life in Tipp City, Ohio
Aside from being charming, Tipp City is also a very historical city. Founded in 1840, it was originally named Tippecanoe City (after President William Henry Harrison, whose nickname was Tippecanoe). Prior to becoming the 9th president, Harrison was known for his involvement in the Battle of Tippecanoe, which occurred in 1811.
Renamed Tipp City in 1938, it has remained true to its roots ever since, as it’s never become overly large. In fact, as of the 2020 census, it had roughly 10,000 residents. However, it’s only about 20 minutes from Dayton, leading to the best of both worlds — smaller town appeal near big city entertainment — for you or your loved one.
- Carillon Historical Park: This year, Carillon is commemorating its 75th anniversary. To join the celebration, you or your loved one should consider visiting the 65-acre open air museum soon. You’ll be intrigued by Dayton’s very interesting past!
- Charleston Falls Preserve: As an ode to its tranquility, Tipp City may be most renowned for the Charleston Falls Preserve. A nature park, it has approximately 220 acres of prairies and forests, along with a waterfall that’s known as the “Miniature Niagara.”
- Dayton Art Institute: Since 1919, Dayton’s art institute has shared countless works of art with guests. Today, it has more than 27,000 art objects, some of which are thousands of years old.
- National Museum of the United States Air Force: Did you know that Dayton is home to the world’s largest military aviation museum? If you or your loved one haven’t been here before, you need to check it out at least once. Most likely, you’ll want to go back again and again!
- Tippecanoe Family Aquatic Center: If you or your loved one are searching for entertainment options for grandchildren, look no further than Tipp City’s aquatic center. Offering two heated swimming pools and a water park, it has various entertainment options for guests during the spring and summer.

As you or your loved one prepare to meet your new family members, here is a glimpse of some of the fun activities they’ve recently enjoyed together in our community.
- A Dynamic Duo: From time to time, our community welcomes live entertainment. In late September 2025, Spittin’ Image — a band featuring identical twins Blain and Brian Swabb — added joy to our residents’ day.
- An Unusual Guest: Recently, some of our residents were greeted by a distinct guest: Petunia, the pony. Residents absolutely loved meeting and petting their new friend!
- Assisted Living Week: During September 2025, our community commemorated Assisted Living Week, primarily by eating. We relished delicacies like cake, ice cream (from Tikis Ice Cream truck), and a walking taco bar.
- Being Men: Many male residents were able to come together and treasure a men’s lunch. While eating grilled food, side dishes, and desserts, our male residents bonded over stories of the past and present.
- Celebrating Aviation: To recognize the marvel of aviation, our community was transformed into an airport, complete with boarding passes, security, and a Main Concourse. While enjoying dinner, our residents also listened to some great aviation stories.
- Hunting for Ducks: In October 2025, our residents participated in a rather new tradition — “hunting” for ducks. Hundreds of rubber duckies were placed throughout our community, leading to a weeklong scavenger hunt. Golden duck trophies were awarded in various categories.
