The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum is in Grand Rapids, MI, and is the burial place of Gerald Ford, the 38th president of the United States, and his wife, Betty Ford. The museum exhibits include a replica of the Oval Office furnished as it was during Ford’s presidency, interactive displays and personal gifts to Ford from foreign dignitaries. The museum also features a Watergate gallery and a section of the Berlin Wall. Our residents enjoy visiting the museum and took a special trip to experience ArtPrize — an annual, international art competition and cultural event in Grand Rapids.
The Equest Center For Therapeutic Riding
The Equest Center is a member center of PATH International and has its own farm, which makes it one of only three therapeutic riding programs in Michigan with this feature. Their facility is open year-round and is essential for people with disabilities to maintain progress in physical, mental, emotional and social improvement and to prevent regression. Horses are therapeutic and our residents love to interact, pet and brush the horses — not to mention feeding them home-baked treats.
North Kent Golf Course
Many of our residents enjoy golfing, so we head to North Kent Golf Course to hit a bucket of balls and practice our putting. North Kent Golf Course is a beautifully maintained, 18-hole, USGA regulation-length course in Rockford.
DeVos Performance Hall
DeVos Performance Hall is a performing arts theater situated inside DeVos Place at the Grand Rapids Convention Center. The theater features performances by all four Grand Rapids arts groups — The Grand Rapids Symphony, The Grand Rapids Ballet, Broadway Grand Rapids and Opera Grand Rapids. The venue provides a cozy setting for these groups, as well as other touring concerts and family shows. It’s a great place for residents to spend an evening, catching shows and performances like “Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations.”
